The Home Office have announced that if you have visa that expired between 24 January and 31 July 2020 (which was automatically extended until 31 July 2020 due to Coronavirus pandemic), you are now required to make arrangements to leave the UK as borders are gradually opening. Meanwhile, the conditions of your leave will be the same until 31 August 2020 and if your conditions allowed you to work, study or rent accommodation you may continue to do so during August 2020 ahead of your departure. However, if you are not able to leave the UK by 31 August 2020, you will need to request additional time to remain in the UK legally, also known as "exceptional assurance" by contacting the Home Office and setting out your exceptional circumstances. The grant of assurance will not grant you leave, but will act as a short term protection against any adverse action such as detention and removal. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about this. (Posted 10 August 2020).
